  EnerSearch Group is currently looking for Construction Manager to work for our prestigious client in Ontario.

Summary of Responsibility Level
Responsible for monitoring and control of assigned field construction work with respect to:
  • safety
  • planning and execution
  • field monitoring and control
  • project turnover
  • Individual projects with values up to $15M
  • Manage concurrently occurring projects.
  • Petroleum Refinery experiences a major asset.

Typical Duties
Safety
  • Verify contractor compliance to Site safety standards, practices and policies (including security, fire protection and safety regulations).
  • Review engineered plans and field preparation of critical procedures.
  • Chair pre-job kickoff meetings and issue meeting minutes.
  • Conduct regular safety audits such as job observations.
  • Submit Near Miss Reports as appropriate.

Planning and Execution
  • Provide constructability input into the engineering development / design packages.
  • Lead / participate in the development of detailed field execution plans.
  • Evaluate capability / performance of contractor's construction organization and supervisory personnel, suggesting remedial steps where deficiencies are noted.
  • Review / evaluate Contractor work procedures, quality and progress to ensure compliance with project specifications, Owners' standards and applicable codes.
  • Administer contracts related to construction activities.
  • Review construction packages for quality and accuracy prior to release to contractor for bidding.
  • Review Contractor estimates and participate in award process where appropriate.

Field
  • Serve as primary field contact with contractors working on the Imperial Oil Nanticoke site.
  • Chair regular progress, schedule and safety review meetings and record minutes of meeting if appropriate.
  • Act as a coordinator of all interface activities and contact between Owner and Contractor for assigned projects.
  • Monitor of overall construction activities and individual contractors' daily and weekly schedules. Realign as required to match overall NEC project priorities / schedules.
  • Monitor numbers, allocation and types of trades personnel on site daily and check which project they are assigned to.
  • Monitor / evaluate Contractor performance in productivity / efficient use of construction materials, tools, equipment.
  • Receive and approve contractor time entries and 3rd party material receipts
  • Work with Contractor to make corrective action recommendations whenever small deficiencies are encountered during field construction, keeping the Project Engineer informed on recommendations and results of action taken by Contractor.
  • Requisition miscellaneous material if necessary.
  • Control field changes – including tracking and recording. Project Engineer to approve significant changes prior to implementation.
  • Track and record field non-conformance.
  • Keep Project Engineer informed particularly on controversial issues and other job highlights.
  • Provide periodic and interim reports to Project Engineer relative to progress of construction work.

Project Turnover
  • Ensure Contractor provides clearly marked up "as-built" drawings in a timely manner. Compare to scope changes, trends and change orders.
  • Support Project Engineer in obtaining sign-off of the Pre-Startup Safety Review as requested.
  • Prepare / follow-up on butt list items (PE ultimately responsible).
  • Support Project Engineer in obtaining sign-off of the Project Turnover Checklist as requested.
